The Maid of the Mist


This 30 minute boat ride is the most popular and famous attraction at Niagara Falls. The Maid of the Mist is a private, family owned company that leases land on the Canadian side of the river from the Niagara Parks Commission.


The Maid of the Mist began operation in 1846, making it one of North America's oldest tourist attractions. The Maid of the Mist boats that are in operation today are not the original boats. It was the Maid of the Mist II that picked up Roger Woodward after his ordeal over Niagara Falls in 1960. Today, it is the Maid of the Mist III, IV, V, and VI that are taking passengers on the thrilling ride.


Propelled by powerful deisel engines, the world famous Maid of the Mist boat tours take you to the base of the American Falls and into the very basin of the magnificent Hoseshoe Falls. Staff provide you with a light plastic raincoat to prevent you from getting too wet.
