What is there to do at Niagara Falls?


There is more to see and experience in the Niagara area than just the Falls.


Niagara Falls, Ontario, has many tourist type attractions, for example: the strip on Clifton Hill, Marineland, the Maid of the Mist, th e Skylon Tower, and Journey Behind the alls.


Once you leave the high tourist area, you will discover that the Niagara Region has more to offer. There are many historical places of intrest, Queenston Heights, Fort George and the Laura Secord Homestead, for example. The village of Niagara-on-the-Lake is a beautiful town, complete with an interesting history.


There are also man made wonders. The hyro-electric power stations are true marvels. Outside the power stations is the Floral Clock, which combines man's workmanship with nature's beauty, as does the Spanish Aero-car over the Niagara Whirlpool.


And of course, there are alot of natural attractions in the Niagara area. There are many greenhouses (including the buttrfly conservitory) and parks. You must also visit the Niagara Wine Country, with it's picturesque vineyards and estates.




The Niagara Parks Commission


Founded in 1885, as an agency of the Ontario Government, the Niagara Parks Commission contrls the Niagara public parks system, totaling 1720 hectacers (4250 acres), including 56 km. (35 miles) of roadway and recreational trails following the Niagara River, from Frt Erie to Niagara-on-th-Lake.


The Niagara Parks Commission's mission is "To preserve and enhance the natural beauty of the Falls and the Niagara River corridor for the enjoyment of visitors while maintaining financial independence."
